Ruth Roberts Swartzfager

Ruth Roberts Swartzfager

February 20, 1934 –  April 18, 2022

We lost a very special lady today, she will be missed so much. Ruth was born on February 20, 1934 in Kidwell, West Virginia to Madge Haught Roberts. Ruth had 3 older siblings and a younger brother who she cherished. Frances, Clyde, Mary and the youngest John.

Ruth grew up on the family dairy farm. Working in the fields and barn along side her siblings and farm hands, she developed a very strong work ethic that lasted a lifetime.

Ruth met Lawrence A Swartzfager and was married May 1, 1954.  A union that lasted 67 years. Ruth and Lawrence had two sons: Steven and Patrick. Ruth and Lawrence traveled all across the Untied States and Europe with Lawrences’s Job. Traveling, camping and visiting family became their lifestyle. Ruth loved her flower and vegetable gardens and their orchard. Ruth loved to can what they harvested.

She is survived by her husband: Lawrence, her sons and their spouses; Steve and Sharmae, Pat and Marsha. 6 grandchildren: William, Jacquie, Jamie, Ryan, Alyssia and India. 8 Great-Grandchildren. Her sister: Frances, brother: John. Their numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was very proud to have graduated from Tyler County High School, the 1st County High School in West Virginia. Private family services have been held. Online condolences may be shared at DaltonHoopes.com

Sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. I thought a lot of Ruth and how she helped me through my business carrier. She was a wonderful friend. I am sorry I did not keep in closer contact throughout these past years. It is hard to find someone with the honesty and integrity of your Mom. She will be greatly missed. Until we meet again Ruth – God be with you!
