Jose Luis Gaeta Godina

Jose Luis Gaeta Godina, age 63, passed away on June 18, 2022, at his home, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born October 14, 1958 in Jalisco, Mexico to Maria Guadalupe Huerta and Pascual Gaeta Solis. Jose was a hardworking man that came to America to provide his family with a better life. He was an incredibly active and proud member of the Catholic Community. Jose met the love of his life, Martha Huizar, at a small ranch back home in Agua Gorda, Jalisco, Mexico. They have been happily married since March of 1987. He loved sharing stories of his family’s history and enjoyed spending his weekends playing poker with his family., He also loved having family over for dinners and barbeques. He loved his grandchildren and had a smile on his face when speaking about them. Jose will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. 

Survived by his wife: Martha; his son: Ricardo (Heydee): 4 daughters: Ana Leticia (Ramon); Alma Angelica, Maria Guadalupe (Javier), Esmeralda (Steven) and his grandchildren: Noel, Joel, Jonathan, Oswaldo, Alessandra, Jose Guadalupe, Deigo, Edwin, Camila.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 24, at 11 AM at the Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church, 247 W 700 N. Salt Lake City, Utah, in the care of Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held after the Mass Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the City View Mortuary, 1001 E 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. When I was very young, I remember going to my Tía Guadalupe’s house and getting to know my cousins. It sounds like he had a wonderful life with his family. My thoughts and prayers are with my cousin Luis and his family during this difficult time..
