Grace Atwood

Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Grace Butterfield Atwood, passed away peacefully February 16th, 2024, in her home.

                Grace was born March 13th, 1939, in Salt Lake City to Annie Emily Gygi and Edward Arthur Butterfield. Growing up in Salt Lake City she attended Granite Highschool where she learned to play the violin. She met Clarence Robert Walton “Bob” whom she married and had two children with but later divorced. She later remarried Lorenzo Atwood “Ren” whom she had one child with and later divorced. Later in life she spent her time with her special friend Joe and all her friends at the Lowe apartments.

                Grace was passionate about the Utah Jazz, her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, bowling, and volunteering with the Booster Club for the Utah Jazz. She was an avid shopper and a great deal finder. She had a love for crocheting where she made beautiful Afghans and dolls.

                Grace is survived by her children, Robert Edward Walton “Ed”, Michelle (Max) Hunt, and Marcie Richardson; her grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Davis, Cailey Richardson, and Colton Richardson; her great-grandchildren, Nathan Davis, Hayden Davis, and Hadlee Davis, and her sisters Geraldine Jensen and Sylvia Orr.

                Grace is proceeded in death by her mother, Annie Gygi, her father Edward Butterfield, her 10 brothers, and 7 sisters.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Taylorsville City Cemetery, 4567 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, UT 84123 under the care of Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home and Cremation. 435-884-3031

    I have many fond memories of Grace. I love her and will miss her sweet face and sense of humor. She always had a big smile and a contagious laugh. May God bless and comfort all of her family.
