April 27, 1950 ~ May 27, 2020 (age 70)
Federico O Gonzalez, 70, passed away on May 27 th, 2020 at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born on April 27 th , 1950 in Jalisco, Mexico to Jose and Jesus Gonzalez.
Fred served in the Utah Air National Guard for 34 years and participated in countless deployments throughout his career. He was proud to serve and defend his adopted country and did so with distinction. He also had a 34-year career with the Utah Transit Authority accumulating numerous awards and accomplishments.
Fred married his wife JoAnn Gonzalez on June 17 th, 1978. They remained constant and devoted companions to the very end.
He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for camping, fishing, and hunting. The outdoors is where he felt his greatest peace. In later life, he enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of tending to his garden and being surrounded by his loving grandchildren. He was an enthusiastic Utah Jazz fan and had grown to love the game of basketball.
He’s survived by his wife JoAnn Gonzalez, son Fred Gonzalez, daughter Teresa Pollas, as well as grandchildren Kayla, Alyssa, Adrianna, Amanda, Gabriel, Brian, and Luis.
A viewing will be held at City View Memorial Mortuary, 1001 East 11 th Avenue, on Thursday, June 4 th at 6 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 5 at 11 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 2119 S 400 E, Salt Lake, UT. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at the Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 State St, Sandy, UT.
