August (Augie) Edward Hawkins

March 21, 1962 – July 19, 2023

August (Augie) Edward Hawkins, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away on July 19, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 21, 1962, to Kay Edward Hawkins and Mary Jane Wright Hawkins. He married Adrianna Palya O’Neal on December 9, 2017 and gained two bonus children, Cyrus and Lauren O’Neal, and together they had a daughter, Mary Isabella Hawkins, his pride and joy.

A hardworking and fair man, an electrician by trade, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. He was proud to start his own company, AA Electric, in 2016.  He was always there to help anyone who called upon him for any reason . . . and he’d be there.  There was always a project going on in the garage and his loved ones often received thoughtful handmade gifts from him.

He truly enjoyed being a father and participated in many activities with Mary and her friends, from school functions, to acting as a chauffeur, softball dad, sleepover parties, movie dates and many trips to Asylum 49 and Lagoon. Mary’s friends called him The Fun Dad!

August is fondly remembered as a fun loving, kind, quick witted and dry humored, generous, easy-going guy with a heart of gold and the mouth of a drunken sailor.

He was known as Funcle to all the nieces and nephews. They all have wonderful memories of going to the races, boating, camping, hot wheels, concerts in the basement, gatherings for the 4th of July parade on the front lawn. They’re all blessed with many treasured memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, bonus mother Frances Hawkins, siblings Kathy Lougy and Clark Mikesell, brother in laws Wil Martinez, Daniel Herrera and his beloved Lucky Dog.

He is survived by his wife Adrianna Hawkins, his daughter Mary Hawkins, his bonus daughter Lauren O’Neal and bonus son Cyrus O’Neal. His mother-in-law Carmen Palya and sister-in-law Kriztina Pescetti. His siblings Nisha Herrera, Sandi Martinez, Jamie (Greg) Lawless, Lori Hawkins, Holly (Dev) Gibson and John (Karen) Mikesell. His horses, Waylon and Willie, and his goats Benjamin Buttons and Venus.

A Celebration of Life/Benefit will be held September 9, 2023, at the Eagles Nest located at Tooele Army Depot, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

We are grateful to have met August in April when we got mold damage in our basement. He got sick shortly after but very glad he helped us out. I only wish it didn’t end this way. Rest peacefully
