Marvin Bigelow

September 8, 1948 – October 25, 2023

Marvin Ray Bigelow passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at his home in Tooele, Utah. Marvin was born in Pittsburg, California to Myrtle May Allen and Marvin R. Bigelow Sr., but grew up in the Tooele area. As an adult, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, then worked for the Postal Service and the Department of Defense for 30 years.

The oldest of 16 siblings, Marvin became a father-figure to many of them. He delighted in his three daughters, his 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was also beloved by his neighbors, especially their children. He was an avid sports fan and gardener, often sharing his favorite irises and other flowers with friends and neighbors

Marvin is survived by his wife, Anne (Salmons) Bigelow, his three daughters and their spouses, Lisa & Chris Butler, Virginia & Kenny Smith and Denise & Justin James, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, seven siblings and a large number of nephews, nieces, their children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Marvin’s life will be held:

Military honors will be held at a later date.
