Sharon Kay Hunt Griffis, 82, passed away in her home in Tooele Utah on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Mom was born on August 22,1941 to Cleo and Lucille Hunt. Sharon was raised in Cozad Nebraska.  Sharon was married for a short time to Bub Slack. Together they had 2 girls Cindy and Pam.  After her divorce to Bub, she married Roger Griffis, together they had 2 boys, Roger and Mike.  They also later divorced. In 1970 Sharon moved to Francis Utah and raised Roger and Mike.

In 1976 Sharon hired on at Geneva Steel where she had several jobs.  Her career started in the Blast Furnace then she transferred to the Rolling Mill where she ran an overhead crane in the slab yard for several years.  At the time of the closure of Geneva Steel she was a recorder in the 145-inch mill. 

Mom loved gardening and doing crafts from making wreaths to little woodworking projects. Mom did not like to sit idle.  Mom had several dogs after she retired from Geneva and was also very close to each one of them. 

After Geneva Steel Sharon moved to Tooele Utah where she lived with her sister Donna Hunt Myer.  Together they spent a lot of great times together.  A special thank you to Ronda Myer for all the care that she gave my mom.  And to Our House Assisted Living for all the countless hours of care.

Sharon is survived by her son Roger Griffis (Jann) of Erda Ut, Nephew   Steve Myer (Ronda) Erda Ut, Grandson Zack Griffis (Charley) Lake Point Ut, granddaughter Cassa Fox Grand Junction Co, Toree Anderson (Corey) Wanship Ut, Branden Griffis (Sheena) Francis Ut, and Daughter Cindy McGee Gothenburg Nebr and several more grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Donna Hunt Myer, son Mike Griffis, and daughter Pam Slack.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later time to be announced.
