Phillip Todd Harris

9/3/1967 – 10/25/2022

On October 25, 2022, the life of another Angel here on Earth was taken way too soon.  Phillip Todd Harris (Todd) born September 3, 1967, Son of David Harris and Diana Tomasik, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He has been reunited with his Father (David Harris) Uncle (Gene Harris) Grandparents (Dorothy & Bill Gardner, Don & Ruth Harris) Cousin (Paul Folsom), and Best Friend (Ray Hargrove).

“Sometimes what you are willing to give is what you will get back in life” Todd wrote this down and one could say he was the poster child for living it. Anytime he had something going on it was never for himself but for those he had either just met, known awhile or primarily his kids. If He could, he’d thank his adoptive parents for this. With them he learned how to build a fence, how to put shingles up, how to make and pour concrete; he learned all about hot rods and Harley Davidsons.  In Todd’s Words “and that was just my first Summer”.

Todd’s charm was genuine, he could sell ice to Eskimos, not because they needed the ice but because it was a reason to be around him. With a smile as infectious as his, he had the ability to make everyone feel welcome. Not only was Todd the type of person to give you the shirt off his back he was always there with a bear hug and a shoulder to cry on regardless of whether you had known him a minute or a lifetime. Todd knew what to say when you needed it the most whether you wanted to hear it or not. He was the king of listening without judgement just open ears and the right amount of heart to make you feel more than heard. He always had a playful spirit, even more so when he became a Papa to Jazmine.

Of Todd’s many accomplishments he was most proud of his Daughters Charly and Chanse. Charly, for always being his #1 (Todd’s Words) admiring her strength to hold firm in her decisions also for giving him two beautiful granddaughters, Jazmine and unborn.  Chanse, his #2 (“second chance” Todd’s words) admiring her independence and following in his entrepreneurial footsteps while having the courage to pave her own way.

He was also proud of bringing the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics “Look and Feel” to life and his interior garage design business, Advanced Garage, where you will find his work in the most prestigious homes in Utah.

“Nothing makes me feel free like a canyon ride in the Fall when the leafs are changing”.  Todd’s passion for motorcycles and music kept him in the fast lane and fueled his rebel ways.  His spirited attitude and zest for life will forever be missed.

Todd lives on through his Daughters Charly Carranza-Medina (Samuel), Chanse Harris (Josh), Granddaughters Jazmine and unborn. Mother Diana Tomasik, Stepmother Carol Harris, adopted parents Lynn and Cliff Whitecar, Brother’s Nick Harris and Paul Christopher Jones, Sister Alexis Russo (and family), Stepbrothers Christian Whitecar and Jason Warburton, Stepsister Jamey Whitecar Warburton, and many others that will forever hold Todd in their hearts.

A celebration and viewing of Todd’s life will be held on November 5, 2022, from 1pm to 3pm at the City View Memorial located at 1001 East 11th Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.  This is an open service, and all who knew Todd are welcome.

The family asks anyone who wants to donate may send flowers to the service.  All with motorcycles please ride in Todd’s rebellious honor. (Weather permitting)

Todd – I will miss you dearly! Even though we had lost some contact over the past few years, it was wonderful to have a nice visit with you a couple of months ago. It brought back great memories of you coming to Grandma and Grandpa Harris’ and spending time with me while we were both growing up. As the obituary says, “there are many who will always hold memories of Todd in their hearts”. I am one of those and I love you! Love, Aunt Lynda

I am so sorry to hear about Todd. He was a friend and genuinely so kind. The first time we met we went shopping together and had such a good time! He was always so sweet and kind to me. To his family I am so sorry. I pray you will be comforted knowing he is in Heaven and you will see him again. Families are forever! Much love!

Todd and Family! We love you! ❤️. You are so much in our thoughts and our prayers! We wish we had had more time with Todd and were looking forward to seeing more of him! We pray 🙏 for peace and comfort for Charly, Chanse, Tracy, many cousins and aunts and uncles, Carol. Nick, Paul, and all who loved him and who will miss him too!
We, too, believe that Todd is with loved ones, and it is precious to picture him surrounded by Dave, Gene, Richard, Grpa and Grma Harris, and others who loved him! We love the perspective of this quote: “Death is not turning out the light. It is merely extinguishing the lamp because the dawn has come.” (Rabindranath Tagore)
Much love! ❣️ Aunt Martie and Uncle Tom
