Jonalee “Joni” Merritt

Jonalee "Joni" Merritt

Jonalee Dove Merritt “Joni” passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Joni fought courageously with advanced melanoma for many years. Joni was born 19
June 1953 in Delta, Colorado to Orlan and Joan Dove.
Joni married her loving soul mate Michael Merritt, 27 July 1971 in Grand Junction,
Colorado. She proudly served along side Mike as a military spouse for 20+ years. Joni
worked at her children’s schools and served her country as an Army contractor and
Army civilian. She retired from government service in 2015.
Joni was an amazing mom to Michael Lee Merritt and Erin Jo Trinchitella. She never
missed an event for her kids or grandkids. She always cheered the loudest and
proudest. She was an AVID crafter, from cross stitching, sewing, crocheting,
scrapbooking, and card making. Before she passed she crocheted blankets for each of
her grandkids and one for their future kids. She was an amazing friend to anyone who
met her, everyone wanted to be her friend and she made it so easy to love her.
Joni is now with Mike in heaven dancing and watching over the rest of us. She is also
proceeded in death by her dad Orlan. She is survived by her mom Joan, son Michael
and daughter-in-law Mary, her daughter Erin, grandkids Daniel (Chelby), Cael, Brandon,
and Savannah, great-grandson Myles, and brother Orlan (Robin).
Joni and her family would like to express a special thank you to hospice that helped
care for her these last few months, especially Aaron and Brenda. We would also like to
thank the wonderful women in her card group.
We love you mom and miss you terribly. Always keep an eye on all of us. Till we meet
again.

Joni and I worked together for a few years in the commander’s office at Tooele Army Depot. She was a remarkable women and I loved and adored her. She could make my day with a smile and tons of laughs. I will miss you my friend.
