Gavin Kelly Lawrence, born on a Wednesday, September 28th, 1994; a child full of grace, grit and gumption. Gavin passed away on March 26th, 2025, while jogging on a beautiful mountain side trail with his sweet girlfriend Katherine.
Our son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend; our loss has left us with a void in our hearts that can only be filled with the memories of love that we will always share with him.
Gavin loved his cars, skateboarding, skiing, horses, caretaking, writing, reading and being active outdoors. He loved to set up his telescope and look at the stars and planets. He had a vast vocabulary, rhetoric and the written word was one of his specialties. He enjoyed putting pen to paper and could write his way into your heart. He was an artist. He had many talents and was very passionate about his studies.
Gavin graduated from Wasatch Elementary School, Clayton Middle School, and East High School. His friendships from each of these will carry on through lifetimes.
Gavin loved football and played for East High School, Coached by Brandon Matich and the team. His final number was 23. His final resting place for his earthly body will be next to his home turf, sandwiched between East High and the UofU stadiums, and a little league field. The moon and stars and Friday Night Lights will keep the “light on” for him. We imagine he will stop to enjoy the game where he got a thrill from grass stains, always ready to play coach, “put me back in, Coach!” We couldn’t keep him out of the cleats. Go, Gavin!
Gavin attended Weber State University, and was a care taker of horses and many other animals with his Uncle George, Aunt Maureen and Aunt Colleen.
Gavin is survived by his parents, Brian and Stacie Lawrence; siblings, Clarissa Rose [Matt] Hockin, Samuel James [Mary], and Jeremy Mac. The love of his life, Kat, his moon and stars girl; and his dog Winston.
Proceeded in death by many; Grandparents, aunts and uncles, including his Uncle Mel; his dogs, Hampton, Baxter McGregor, Emma, and Alex.

Gavin was my buddy growing up and we traveled all over together. We did naughty things like cover each other in desitin and throw snails at cars when we didn’t know any better, and play pokémon when it was cool the first time. We both enjoyed art and even sold our masterpieces in the driveway and people actually bought some of it. At fish Lake we went on many adventures together and found things like eagle, feathers and arrowhead stones, he even gave me some of the best ones he found. We put on plays on the cabin porch, played pirates in the bushes and rocks, and competed to see who could catch the biggest rainbow trout.
I share my condolences for Brian. Stacie, Clarissa, Sam and Jeremy. I will forever miss my growing up buddy. Please give my mama, Jenny (bear) a big bear hug for me. Until we meet again.
I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Gavin, but knowing his mom and dad, I’m confident he brought much joy to this world. I’m so very sorry for your loss and I send my deepest condolences to the family.
Dear Stacie and Bryan,
I am so sorry for your tragic and untimely loss of your beautiful child. I cannot imagine how painful this may be for you. May your grief spring into hope for a future of reunion.
Bless you and your family.
With love
Lots of great memories of “Gavdawg”which I will always cherish. Especially at Fish Lake we would take our summer vacation and travel up there and stay at the cabin for years while he was growing up. I always admired his fishing skills. He was an skilled fisherman which he learned from his Grandpa Hansen. Lots of laughs and good times always. Now he is watching down on each and every loved one who was lucky enough to know his presence. A life taken away much too early. He will truly be missed and I truly feel blessed to have known him., he was one unique individual. Thoughts go out to the family for this tragic loss. Love Kevdawg!
I’ll miss you Gavin. We went through so much together and made so many memories. Through good and bad, talking everyday or once a month we had each other’s back. I’ll miss you Gavin, we weren’t brothers, but we might as well been.
