David Harold Wright, age 78, passed away on March 22, 2025, at his home in Salt Lake
City. He was born on January 14, 1947, in Salt Lake City to Genevieve and Harold
Wright.

David graduated from East High School, class of 1965. He then served an LDS mission
in Australia before being commissioned as an officer of the United States Army in 1969
where he served for five years. David attended college at the University of Utah where
he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration and remained a Utah fan
forever.

David married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn in 1968. He cherished his beloved
wife and his world revolved around her. Together, they have six children together:
Kimberly (Samuel), Marc, Jeff (Jeniffer), Tim (Jamie), Shawn (Christine) and Allyson
(Michael).

While his kids were growing up, they often took family trips that the family remembers
fondly. Many of these trips included softball tournaments. David had a love for baseball
and softball that started in his youth and continued throughout his life. He played on
competitive softball teams until his body no longer allowed it. Many family nights were
spent together at the ballpark and in the backyard playing baseball with his children.
David enjoyed traveling with his family and visiting his grandchildren that lived away
from him. He had many grandchildren who will miss him. Some of their fondest
memories include watching old movies with their grandpa, listening to him explain the
order of the thirteen colonies, and speaking in the Donald Duck voice that was uniquely
his. David was a devoted member of the LDS church and served in many callings
including as bishop for five and a half years. He loved the congregation he served and
even after he was released from his calling, remained a spiritual leader to those around
him.

Golf was one of David’s passions, and he played with his friends nearly every week. He
was a talented golfer who enjoyed going on golf trips with his friends and their wives.
David also enjoyed rewatching his favorite TV shows and movies every night with his
wife. His sense of humor and ability to provide a relatable quote for every situation will
be missed. David was known for his ability to do anything for those he loved. He was
the first person his family would call for advice and help and, no matter what, he would
provide his unwavering support. David was the exemplar of showing up when it
mattered most. He loved his family and his family loves him.

David is survived by his wife, three of his siblings, Richard (Marge), Suzie (Joseph),
Marilyn, and sister-in-law Carol, six children, and 23 grandchildren. He was proceeded
in death by his parents, his brother Legrand, his sister Janet and two granddaughters
(Kailey and Kinsley).

David’s funeral will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ located at 5235 S Wesley Rd.,
Salt Lake City, UT 84117 on Saturday, March 29th at 11 a.m. There will also be a
