JABU “Mousy” MZILIKAZI, was born on September 3rd, 1971 and raised in the dusty streets of Alexander Township in Johannesburg South Africa. He initially came to America as a Youth Ambassador for Nelson Mandela’s ANC Political Organization and toured giving talks at all American Major Universities; on the state of affairs in RSA at the time travelling all states but Alaska. After returning back home he relocated to America on an Academic Scholarship for Weber State University in UTAH, where he did his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts where he went on to become their Residency Artist studying Fine Arts and later on Adjunct Teacher. He was also into Mixed Medium Arts & Digital Arts and studied Graphic Design working at the KSL TV Station for over a decade as their Head Graphic Designer.

Jabu The Artist emerged as he grew his name Internationally and began to have Art Shows throughout the US to Dubai, Morocco, Europe and Asia. Jabu has amassed a huge following as he launched his art. He was also an “ARTIVIST” a Term he Coined in relation to his Activism and Love for Nature and Wild Life. He had his Organisations that pushed and had collaborative efforts for Wildlife Preservation as well as Water, Bees and Butterfly Conservation Globally.

Jabu a graduate of a Private School Phuting High loved humanity, fought for South Africa’s liberation as a Youth was Imprisoned and tortured for fighting for our rights. He continued to fight for the things he believed in, and for those he loved and pushed them hard daily to reach for bigger and better and did not take no for an answer. He was quiet the ladies man, loved by many and always full of life.

Jabu is Survived by his Mother Stella Lungi MZILIKAZI, His 2 Brothers back home in South Africa Oldest Bruno MZILIKAZI and youngest of the family Oscar MZILIKAZI, plus his only sister the 3rd after him, Khaya Darko as well as Sister in Law Shirley and a bunch of Nephews and Nieces including one Nephew locally in America Saury MZILIKAZI. Jabu certainly has a list of loved ones that goes on forever Including Robin MZILIKAZI, Tiana and Tyson, Chris S, Dajon Y, Zack G, John F., Edwin B. Green Eyes and Jason Blue Eyes, Claudia M. The King of Hawaii His Majesty Dr. Edmund Keli’i Silva. Jr, Senator Bobby Kennedy Current US Secretary of Health and Many More Others.

 Jabu left us all prematurely none was prepared for he always presented as strong and durable. A Golden Glove Boxer for the State of Utah he simply excelled at a lot of things and very versatile “O NQONDO NQONDO”. We will thrive in keeping his legacy alive as a collective and continue the good fight where he left off. May his soul forever sour on the wings of eagles, his name roared by lions, his vision seen through the eye of a Tiger and His ambitions and goals carried on the backs of Elephants and fulfilled at the speed of a Cheetah. We shall not feel cheated out of him for we’ll all always carry a Lil bit of him in our hearts and minds. Please join us a memorial service to remember our beloved son, father, brother and friend. Saturday, February 15, from 4-6 PM at the City View Mortuary, 1001 E 11th Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah. Celebration of life will follow in the Spring of 2025.
