Richard “Smiley” “Dick” Hibler

Richard (Dick) (Smiley) Hudson Hibler, 86, passed away on January 10th, 2025 in

Tooele, Utah. Richard was born September 24,1938 to Harold W. Hibler and

Agnes C. Worthington in Tooele, Utah. He grew up in Grantsville, Utah and enjoyed

exploring and living life with his best friend and older brother Jack.

Richard was married to his first wife Dixie for a few years and had 3 wonderful children.

They later divorced.  He later found the love of his life and married his sweetheart

Diane Grasteit on February 26th, 1965 and this union was later solemnized in the

Salt Lake City Utah Temple on June 25th, 2011.

After high school he joined the army reserves for a short time before going to

trade school to learn how to be a plumber. He worked as a plumber and contractor

for thirty years. He taught others how to be a plumber at a trade school. He talked

about his time working in Las Vegas and working on the U of U  hospital when it was built.

Richard was very hard working and worked tirelessly to help provide for his family while

showing his children the importance of hard work and honesty. 

Richard was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed his time in the

1st ward and later in the 3rd ward. He enjoyed going to singing time in primary

and listening to the children sing songs. Richard enjoyed fishing, dancing,

traveling abroad, collecting fine art, and spending time with his family. You could see

Richard’s smile from a mile away. You knew when Smiley was around and couldn’t help

but smile. Richard was very happy if he had a cheeseburger and cookie in his hands. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Diane, daughters, Eulanda and

Tammy and brothers Terrance and Kenneth.

Richard is survived by his; older brother Jack and his younger sister Vicki, his children,

Jackie (Dennis), Jeff, Troy (Alicia), and Tony; his 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren,

1 great great grandson

He will truly be missed by all. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday January 16th at the LDS chapel at

428 South Hale Street, Grantsville, Utah, 84029 starting at 10 am followed by a

funeral service starting at 12 noon. Burial will be held at Palm Eastern Cemetery,

7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada.
