James Bradley Carreau, beloved Husband, Father, and Brother, 64, of Grantsville, Utah, passed away on September 10th, 2023, after a short battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Jim was born in Tacoma, Washington on December 15th, 1958, to Thomas and Irene (Lancaster). After his family moved to Tooele, Utah in 1962, Jim attended Central Elementary School and graduated from Tooele High School in 1978. He worked at Allen’s Grocery Store in Tooele throughout his teen years then at Hertz Car Rental at Salt Lake International Airport until 2001. Jim married Cheryl Lynn Coop on March 28th, 1985, and they have one son, John James. They have lived in Grantsville, Utah since 1990.
Jim was always a very hard worker and was busy all the time. He had an infectious, well-known laugh and there was never a moment where he did not have a smile on his face. He was always there for family and friends when there was hard work that needed to be done and would do anything to help anyone in need. He loved working on his cars, trucks, motorcycles and collecting and selling scrap metal. He would spend hours in his yard or garage keeping himself busy. He loved driving his dump truck while blasting his favorite music. You could hear Jim coming from a mile away. He will be greatly missed for his sensitive and simple way of looking at life and his happy attitude about everything.
Shortly after Jim passed, his son John wrote a memory for his dad:
I may not be able to hold you in my arms right now but I hold you in my heart every minute of every day, I miss you a lot and will never forget the life lessons that you taught me and will be the man that you knew I could be, I can’t wait to join you when it’s my time and I can always feel you smiling down upon me…..always smiling.
Jim is survived by his wife Cheryl Lynn(Coop), son John James, and brothers Lawrence Wayne (Ruby) Carreau, Anthony Lloyd (Liz) Carreau, and Timothy John (Gadir) Carreau
He was predeceased by father Thomas Jerome (2013) and mother Irene Dolores (2019)
Jim did not wish to have any services. In lieu of flowers Jim’s family asks that you live as a free spirit and always be happy, just as Jim was. The family is planning to have a celebration of life for Jim at a future time.

In all the years of waiting on Jimmy multiple times per week, I never saw him without a smile on his face, or heard an unkind word pass his lips.
May we all strive to be a little more like Jimmy 💞
What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful spirit.

So many good memories with you guys. It’s hard to hear Jimmy passed away. Climbing little mountain capturing horny toads and so many more. My prayers and heart are with you and your family.
