Maxine Elaine Long Stewart
Maxine Elaine Long Stewart, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Tooele, Utah, on Saturday, the September 26th, 2026.
Maxine was born on November 11, 1934, to Carrie Margaret Johnson and James Sheppard Long. She was born and raised in Tooele, Utah, where she spent her childhood surrounded by a small group of close friends. In the story she wrote about her life, Maxine described herself as a shy and serious person. She loved her parents dearly and spoke of them with great affection and respect.
After graduating from high school, Maxine began working at Tooele Army Depot in Dugway. It was there that she learned how to use a dial telephone—a small detail from her early working years that she remembered fondly. Maxine enjoyed earning her own money and buying things for herself, and as the years passed, she also came to appreciate the satisfaction of saving money.
Later in life, Maxine earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, an accomplishment that reflected her lifelong willingness to learn and grow.
Family was especially important to Maxine. She loved her two children, James Harold Park and Jennifer Michelle Beacham Glaser, and treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing games with those she loved and creating memories together.
Maxine also had a deep love for music and musical instruments. She often played the piano and organ, bringing music into her home and the lives of those around her.
Maxine will be remembered for her love of family, independence, and appreciation for the simple things that brought joy throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, James and Jeanine Park and Jennifer and Aaron Glaser; her grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, Mindy, Samantha, Kjersten, Alma, Jessica, and Alex; and her great-grandchildren, Saige, Brooklyn, Roland, David, Oliver, and Mila.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carrie Long; her brother, Delbert Long, and his wife, Mildred Long; her sister, Phyllis Weyland, and her husband, Robert Weyland; and her three husbands, Hoyt Park, Cecil Joseph Becham, and Garvin Stewart.
Her family and friends will remember Maxine with love and gratitude for the life she lived, the memories she created, and the love she shared with those around her.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 10 AM at the Ridge Ward Chapel, 570 E 132 N., Tooele, Utah. Visitation will be held from 8:30-9:30 AM prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in the Tooele City Cemetery.

I will miss Grami at my future performances. She played a huge part in my childhood. She got me my first violin and was always showing up to my concerts. She was so fun to be around. One of my favorite memories of her is going over to her house to play trains with her.
