It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jared, who left us too soon on December 20, 2025 at the age of 36. Jared was a beloved son, parent, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.
Jared was devoted to his family and especially cherished his role as daddy of two beautiful daughters.( Haze, Ember) Jared will be remembered for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for everyone who knew him.
Jared is survived by his girl’s Hazleigh and Emberlynna Penfield, mother Jennifer Smith (Bill), father Neil Piirainen, brother Jordan Penfield, sister Alyssa Piirainen (Devon, Tayven, DaVonte, Skeeter, Dalilah, Amiah Frenchwood), and many relatives and friends who loved him deeply.
A celebration of Jared’s life will be held on December 29th at City View Mortuary, 1001 East 11th Avenue in Salt Lake City. Service will be held at 11 AM. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 5-7 PM and also 1 Hour prior to the service.

This guy was a crack up from the day I met him I laughed just thinking about him and so kind hearted , I loved having him as a neighbor for a short time and the girls it always made my day when they came over . I will miss him so much . I am so sorry for your loss .
Not a better guy to bring a smile to your face. I’ll never forget his fun personality and deep commitment to his friends and family. Jared was all about making people laugh and accepting everyone around him. You’ll be missed, my man!
Jared was such a handsome man and his smile was priceless. I have memories from the first day I met him. He left us too soon. You are resting now with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who loves you always. I am going to miss you when I go to Utah to visit
