Obituary of Carl Albert Anderson

In Loving Memory of Carl Albert Anderson

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Carl Albert Anderson, who returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on October 12, 2026, in Tooele, Utah, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Carl was born on May 6, 1940, in Grantsville, Utah, to John Alvin and Ethel Alberta Anderson. Throughout his life, Carl built a lasting legacy of love, devotion, service, and family. He touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to give of himself to others. The memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

One of Carl’s greatest legacies was his dedication to the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of his outstanding service and leadership, he received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, one of Scouting’s highest honors for adult volunteers. Through his commitment to mentoring young men, Carl helped more than 40 Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His guidance, encouragement, and example helped shape young lives and instilled values that would remain with them for years to come. His legacy of service will continue through the many lives he influenced.

Carl was also a faithful servant of the Lord, serving in numerous callings throughout his life in the Church. His faith was an important part of who he was, guiding his commitment to serving others, strengthening his family, and making a difference in his community.

Family was at the center of Carl’s life, and few things brought him greater joy than coaching his children and grandchildren in football, basketball, and baseball. He loved being involved in their lives, cheering them on, offering encouragement, and celebrating their accomplishments. His love of sports extended beyond his own family, as he enjoyed watching and supporting children and young people at countless sporting events. Whether coaching from the sidelines or cheering from the stands, Carl took pride in encouraging young people and helping them discover their potential.

Carl also had a deep love for raising and breeding Quarter Horses and Border Collies, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for animals and the rural way of life he cherished. He was skilled in the art of leatherwork and spent time in his saddle shop crafting saddles with care, patience, and craftsmanship. These passions were an important part of who he was and added to the rich tapestry of a life well lived.

Carl was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Ethel; his siblings, Dixie Arbon and Hoy Anderson; his brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and the love of his life, Gerry (Nix) Anderson, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories. He is also survived by his three children, Corrie (Dean) Nielson, Bret (Sabrina) Anderson, and Brook (Paula) Anderson; his sister, Jackie Broomhead; his brother, Rex Anderson; his brother-in-law, Elmer Nix; his sister-in-law, Debbie Cederloft; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl’s life was a gift to his family, his friends, and his community. His legacy is measured not only in his many accomplishments, but also in the lives he touched, the young people he mentored, the family he cherished, and the countless acts of kindness and service he offered throughout his life. He gave freely of his time, shared his knowledge generously, and led by example. Though his passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who love him, his influence will never fade.

His earthly journey may have come to an end, but the love he planted in the hearts of others will continue to grow for generations to come. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the example he set will remain a treasured part of his family’s story. His faith, his devotion to family, his willingness to serve, and his love for the people and pursuits that shaped his life will never be forgotten.

Carl will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. May the knowledge that he has returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father bring comfort to all who mourn his passing, and may his beautiful legacy continue to bless the lives of those who follow in his footsteps.

  1. I Rex Anderson, Carl’s younger brother, remember growing up with Carl in the farm in Grantsville, we worked hard but also we had a lot of fun and learned a lot from each other and about life. I watched how Carl raised his children and the way he watched his grandchildren. I look forward to going on a heavenly mission as companions.

    1. I will never forget the kindness that Carl showed me in my life. As a teenager, I spent many hours in his saddle shop, learning to tool and cut and sew leather. He helped me make my first saddle and first pair of show chaps. The smell of wet leather transports me back there instantly still. I think of Carl and Gerry’s kitchen every time I eat a ding dong, and tell my kids that there was always a frozen foil wrapped ding dong, and a cold can of pepsi waiting for us if we went inside and sat at their small kitchen table. I still tell my own kids to “put that board in that hole!” when they don’t push the door closed, and I’ll always hear it in Carl’s voice. Every time I’ve seen him throughout the years he’s made time to talk with me and ask about my family. He is an amazing man and I’m blessed to have known him. Sending all my love to Gerry and the Anderson family at this time of loss♥️
