Our mother began her journey home on Thursday May 2nd, 2024. She will be reuniting with her loving husband and family. God has prepared a place for her.

Lana Arlene Barber was born March 23rd 1944 to Edwin and Pearl Anne Deiter in Rifle, Colorado. She is the third of seven siblings. When she was very young, her family moved to Burns, Oregon.  Lana was a bit of a tomboy, as she would tell stories of playing with baby snakes and making mud pies for boys, or scaring boys with dead snakes curled up on their porch.

Shortly after graduating high school, she met and married her first husband, our father, Bruce Burgess. They had four children Everett, Dee, David, and Lori. She and Bruce would later divorce.

On December 27, 1980 Lana married Robert (Bob) Barber and enjoyed 34 years until Bob’s passing in December of 2014.

Lana worked hard to support her family as a CNA and a security guard for years. She loved family gatherings, decorating for the Holidays, her plastic canvas, gardening and spending time with her family.

Lana is survived by her children: Everett (& Ada) Burgess of Stansbury Park, UT, Dee (& Pam) Burgess of Vernal, UT, David Burgess of Ophir, UT , and Lori (& Jimmie) Hansen of Prineville, OR. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She is also survived by brother-in-law Brent Drury and sister-in-law Novel Deiter.

Lana will be joining her loving husband Robert (Bob) Barber, Parents Edwin and Pearl Anne Deiter, and her siblings Eugene Deiter, Vivian (Dee) Drury, Jimmy Deiter, Dennis Deiter, Ronald Deiter, and Karen Kay Deiter.

Celebration of Life for Lana A. Barber will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 3 PM in the Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church, 560 S Main St. Tooele, Utah, 84074 Burial will be in the Burns City Cemetery, Burns, Oregon on Monday, May 13, 2024.
