David C. Sundblad

David Charles Sundblad , 74, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at home in Holladay, Utah. David was born August 27, 1952 in Ishpeming, MI to Colleen H. Simons Sundblad and Raymond L. Sundblad. David had one son, Eric D. Sundblad.
David graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in Forestry and Environmental Science.
He devoted more than 30 years to the mining, construction, and environmental industries, building a distinguished career in project management and development. He led major mining and construction projects throughout the United States and internationally, with assignments spanning Indonesia, Peru, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, West Africa, and Guyana. His work included the development and expansion of gold and copper mines, processing plants, major infrastructure, and environmental remediation projects. Over the course of his career, David held senior leadership positions with companies including Newmont Mining, Ivanhoe Mines, Ames Construction, Morrison Knudsen, and others, earning a reputation for his technical expertise, leadership, and ability to bring complex projects from planning through completion. He made many good friends along the way.
David is survived by his son, Eric, brothers Ray, Charlie and Stephen, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and love, Lisa Manzanares and his “grandson” Hayden Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Colleen Sundblad and his nephew Aaron.
David fought a three year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. We would like to thank Dr. Neeraj Agarwal and his wonderful team at Huntsman Cancer Institute, as well as Huntsman at Home hospice nurses who took such great care of him at the end, Nidhi, Danielle and Savannah.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 4 from 10am to 12pm at Fàcil Taqueria, 4429 S 2950 E.
Brunch will be served.
A later internment will take place in Ishpeming, MI under the care of his brothers Ray and Charlie.
