Jeanine Clegg

On September 8, 2026, in Millcreek, Utah, Jeanine Clegg, beloved daughter, sister, mother and aunt completed her mortal mission and returned to her heavenly home. She was 72 years old. Jeanine was born in beautiful Heidelberg, Germany, on February 27, 1954, and a year later came with her parents, Dennis and Georgia Dawn Clegg, to live in Midway, Utah.

Jeanine attended elementary school in Midway, and went on to graduate from Wasatch High School and seminary. She then attended Dixie College in St. George, and graduated from the institute there.

Jeanine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a church mission in Costa Rica and Rochester, New York. She was able to participate twice in the Hill Cumorah Pageant, once as a missionary and a second time as an invited participant. Those were highlights in her life.

Jeanine married Paul R. Nielson in the Salt Lake Temple. Paul was in the US Air Force and they lived in Wichita, Kansas for a time, where their son, Lars David Nielson was born. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, and their daughter, Jennie Mae Nielson was born during that time. Jeanine also worked as a civilian for the Air Force during the years there. Paul and Jeanine were later divorced.

Jeanine had a lovely soprano voice and was active in musical groups all of her life. She played the trumpet in band. She participated in Program Bureau during college. She sang for many years with the Choralettes and the Midway Swiss Chorus. She attended classes at UVU Heber campus and Mountainland Academy in Utah Valley. She worked at Famous Footwear in Park City and was a valued employee there. Jeanine also assisted with the special needs seminary group, and enjoyed the teachers and students there.

Jeanine loved doing work with her hands and produced some beautiful items. She did beadwork, jewelry, leather crafts, ceramics and knitted colorful and warm hats which she gave away.

Jeanine was blessed with a kind and tender heart. She loved people, and was happiest when with a group, talking and laughing and enjoying each other and loving the good treats she often provided for them.

Jeanine has lived at the Mount Olympus Rehabilitation Center for the past 8 years, where she made many friends with her humor, friendliness and genuine concern for others. Our family can’t possibly extend enough gratitude to the staff there for their friendship, kindness, tender care and concern, and overall goodness and love to Jeanine. That was her home and they were her dear family.

Jeanine is survived by her children: Lars and Becky Nielson and their children, Paul, Titus, and Lillian of Keizer, Oregon; Jennie Gaylord and her children, Elias, Audrey, and Omner of Pocatello, Idaho. Also her siblings, Carol Dawn and Bill Poulter, Millcreek, Keith and Caroline Clegg, Orem, Jonathan and Julie Clegg, Midway, James and Calleen Clegg, Kanab, and Melvin James, Blanding; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and a beloved aunt, Alene Misbach, and cousin, Melanie Ballard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis A and Georgia Dawn Johnson Clegg, all of her grandparents, and a nephew, Tyrin James.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 19 at noon at the Midway City Cemetery.
