Obituary of Michael James Pendley

In Loving Memory of Michael James Pendley

October 12, 1971 – August 24, 2026

Michael James Pendley, 54, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on October 12, 1971, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Michael lived a life filled with creativity, adventure, and love for family and friends.

Michael graduated from Grantsville High School in 1990.  Married Rayola Greenburg, later divorced. He was a talented artist, woodworker, and cook whose creativity earned him numerous awards at local craft fairs. He especially enjoyed making dream catchers, which he lovingly created and shared with family and friends.

Michael was known for his generous spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help others whenever needed. He freely shared his talents and touched the lives of many with his compassion and friendship. He loved all kinds of music, especially Rock and Roll, which remained his favorite throughout his life.

An avid collector, Michael enjoyed memorabilia of all kinds, particularly gemstones. He found peace and happiness in nature and had a deep love for both the ocean and the mountains. Whether camping, fishing, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, Michael was always ready for an adventure.

As a young boy, Michael had a smile that could light up a room, and throughout his life he continued to brighten the lives of those around him. Above all else, Michael’s greatest love was his children, Austin, Echo, and Cheyenne.  He loved teaching them to cook and do arts and crafts.

Due to an injury at a young age, Michael faced many challenges throughout his life. He also dealt with numerous health issues that tested his strength and resilience. Despite these difficulties, he continued to move forward with determination and courage.

Michael is survived by his parents, Dennis K. Pendley and Patricia K. Tucker; his sisters, Crystal Pendley (Brian Wooten) and Tiffany Pendley (Ron Chacon); his brother, Jeremy Pendley; his children, Austin Talamantes, Echo Pendley, and Cheyenne Pendley; Rayola Greenburg; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Michael was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mark Burpee; his brother, Shay Pendley; his niece, Tayler Breanne Pendley; his grandparents, George W. Baird Jr. and Jena V. Steggell Baird; and Glenda Kearns.

You have earned your wings, Michael. Now fly free. Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 3 PM at the Grantsville City Cemetery, 336 W Main.
