Paul Floyd Gourley, age 84, of Grantsville, UT, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025. Paul was born in Provo, UT, on May 28, 1940, to Floyd (Bub) and Cecelia Gourley.
Paul was raised in Eureka, UT, and a proud graduate of Tintic High School. He married Linda Farren, and they had two children, Ronald and Loree. As a family, they hunted and fished, and took a family vacation almost every summer. They visited many different and beautiful places, and always had the best time. Paul and Linda were known for their dancing, and taught both Ronnie and Loree at a young age. We always had so much fun. Christmas Day was always reserved for family. We loved being together and playing games. Paul and Linda later divorced.
Paul later married Charlotte Weyland. They spent many years together enjoying golfing, trap shooting, camping, fishing, and traveling.
Paul began his early career in the Air Force. He later worked at the Dragon Mine, and then went to work at Dugway as a Material Test Operator, where he spent the rest of his career, until retiring.
Paul loved going to Wendover and playing the slot machines. He always won, usually at the first machine he sat down at.
Paul was a proud member of the US Air Force. If you saw him, he was most likely wearing an Air Force ball cap. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Tintic Elks Lodge #711, where he served many different positions, including Exalted Ruler.
Paul is survived by his son Ronald Gourley, his daughter Loree Brockman, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his faithful, furry
companion, his dog Lucky. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Bub and Cecelia Gourley, his brother Lynn Gourley, and his wife Charlotte.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks, and heartfelt gratitude, to everyone at Harmony Health Care in Tooele, who took such extraordinary care of dad for the past five years. It was so nice knowing that such caring people came to his house every day, to make sure he showered, took his pills, ate breakfast, and a host of other things. A special thank you to Shu-Chen and Heather. Dad loved you both, and you have become like family. We would never have been able to get through this process without your caring and assistance.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tintic Elks Lodge #711, in Eureka, UT, on Friday, February 28th, at 12:00 PM. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held later in the spring, at the Grantsville City Cemetery. The family respectfully requests, that if you wish to send fresh flowers, please wait until the graveside service to do so. Details on the graveside service will be provided at a later date.
