April 27, 1945 – March 3, 2024
Jimmy Mac Tidwell, lovingly known as Mac, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024. Like his father before him, Mac’s journey ended at the tender age of 78.
Throughout his life Mac cherished the outdoors, embarking on countless fishing, hunting, and camping adventures with loved ones. He also enjoyed playing baseball. He loved to read saying that “Growing up I read the whole library by the school to myself!” His dedication to his family was unwavering, evident in the open doors of his West Valley home where he and his wife Ilene Joan Llewelyn raised their children, and all those who joined the family along the way.
Mac’s career journey took him from working on State Roads to getting an associate degree from College of Eastern Utah and finding his roots driving trucks for Monroc Inc. Beyond his professional achievements, Mac’s legacy is marked by his role as a youth leader and the countless memories he created for his family and all of those who knew him. In his own words Mac said of an accomplishment that would define his legacy, “My aunt Joyce used to say she came to the reunions just to hear me laugh. She would tell me jokes just to get me to laugh.”
He will forever be remembered alongside his late wife, Ilene Joan Llewelyn, whose tombstone will bear his name as a testament to their enduring bond. His ashes will find their resting place alongside the ashes of his grandson Nickolas Chase Nielson, where their legacies will be honored and treasured for generations to come.
Survived by his best friend and brother Randy [Rolinda]; daughters, Trish [Keith Nielson], Stacie [Brian Lawrence]; grandchildren, Derek [Kendall], Adam, Mat, Zack, Kayla [Tyler Williams], Gavin, Brittney, Clarissa, Erik, Alyssa [Cayman Williams], Breann, Sam [Mary], and Jeremy Mac; great-grandchildren, Riley, Miles, Logan, Avery Lee, and Peyton Jennifer; many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. If you knew Mac, you were loved or accepted by Mac. Once over a conversation with a neighbor of a fallen fence Mac stated, “We don’t need a fence, we’re neighbors!”, and that was that!
Preceded in Death by grandparents he had told many stories of and was looking forward to seeing again; his mother and father, James Lynn Tidwell and Madge Elaine McDonald; wife, Ilene Joan Llewelyn; siblings, Billy Joe “Kip” Tidwell and Judy Lyn Thornton; children, Jody Mac and Jennifer Lee; and grandson Nickolas Nielson.
Mac’s daughters would like to thank Elevation Utah Hospice for the loving care of their dad, especially April, Jeff, Julie, Matt, Carlos and Tim, as well as Monica at the end of his life. They would also like to thank Dad’s friends, especially those who came at the end to say, “See ya later” offering love and support during his final hours. An final appreciation to Bill, Brian, and Mario, for blessings and prayers offering peace to Mac and his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 16th at the Granger Ward Building, 2850 West 3835 South, WVC, Utah 84119. Family and friends may come 10:00 AM, with a service at 10:45 AM.

Almost made it to 79. 🩵
He set goals. To love. To live.
He wanted to make it to Thanksgiving and cook his turkey. He hoped to have his grandchildren and great-grands come for the holidays, and they did. He stayed awake to see the first minute of a new year, 2024. He wanted to go to his grandsons wedding.
He did two pushups when his hospice nurse said his muscles were declining.
He was going to make it to his birthday in April, then take a walk through the care center in May to tell the doctors they couldn’t tell him when to die; it would have been a year since we bust him out of there.
His will conquer his goal for July when we see him in Potters Pond; one more fishing trip and a campfire roast. Bibs on!
Love you Dad. I am proud of you. The greatest gift you gave me was the day you called me daughter.
I’m not okay, but you believe in us and we will be eventually. 🩵
I’m jealous of the angels and want a glimpse of that group hug in heaven. Miss you.
Mac was and still is a good man. I considered him a friend. He always treated me very kindly, and we had many good moments and conversations together. He loved his yearly summer excursions, and he loved his family. He was a good father. He is gone from us for a brief time, but he is now reunited with others of his family that he loves, and, we will one day in the not-too-distant future associate with him again. I wish Trish and Stacie and ALL of his family the very best at this difficult time of momentary separation. See, you soon, Mac………..see you soon.
