After 88 years of life, Annette Miller Anderson returned home. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Born January 8, 1935, to William Fay Miller and Geneve Bennion, Annette was the first of four children. Faye, Bob, and Linda were not only Annette’s younger siblings, but some of her greatest friends. Located eight miles northwest of Grantsville the foursome grew up at Dolomite, the lime plant William ran. They enjoyed riding bikes, scooters, and hiking the foothills together. The siblings also loved to play tricks and steal their Dad’s car for a joy ride into town. Even though he always knew, he never said a word. Annette spoke often and fondly of her childhood years.
While attending school, Annette made many life-long friends. It was also during this time that she met her sweetheart, Floyd. While herding cows with his father in the Dolomite area, Floyd saw Annette riding a bike with a group of friends. He took one look at her and without hesitation said, “I’m going to marry that girl.” It was truly love at first sight. The two were married December 30, 1954, and sealed exactly 30 years later on December 30, 1984. They shared 40 wonderful years of marriage before Floyd’s untimely passing at the age of 61 due to complications from multiple sclerosis.
Annette was independent and built a successful business as a beautician, a profession she would enjoy for over 50 years. Her clientele consisted of both men and women. Her shop was neat, organized, and a welcoming space for patrons. She had a strict “no gossip” rule. Most all of her clients became dear friends. She was successful not just for her skills as a beautician, but also because those that sat in her chair truly enjoyed being in her company.
While she enjoyed outside success, what truly defined Annette was her family. She was a loyal and attentive parent to Marty and Shere. The two were always her top priority, and she enjoyed being a mother. As a grandparent, Annette attended countless dance performances, sporting events, birthday parties, music recitals, school performances, and much more. Annette showed enthusiastic and unwavering support for her children and grandchildren.
As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Annette served in the Relief Society and enjoyed helping others. She had a strong character and always believed in doing the right thing, even if it was inconvenient or uncomfortable. Annette was a beautiful, elegant woman with her signature hair never out of place. Despite her femininity, she was not afraid of chores that came with being married to a cowboy. With polished nails and perfectly quaffed hair, Annette could be found putting cows and horses back into the field or helping a struggling newborn calf in its first hours of life. She kept a spotless house, car, and salon. A veracious reader, Annette went through several books a month. She had a quick wit and a matter-of-fact personality that was honest and sincere. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Annette is survived by her son Martin Anderson (Suzanne), her daughter Shere North (Duke), her grandchildren Jeremy North, Alecia Moyer (Stephen), McKenzie Rees (Garrett), Allie Anderson-Boyle (Samuel), Sarah Nordgran (Casey), Alexa North, Jaydon North, and great-grandchildren Caelia Moyer, Abigail Moyer, Emerson Nordgran, Blair Boyle, Owen Nordgran, and Ava Nordgran. Also survived by her brother Robert Miller (Kaye). She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, siblings Faye and Linda, and countless relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 12:00 noon with visitation from 10:30-11:30 prior to service. There will also be a viewing from 6:00-8:00pm December 20, 2023, both held at the Grantsville West Stake Center located at 115 East Cherry Street, Grantsville, Utah.
