Luis P Duran left this life a fighter, just as he lived it. Born July 19, 1939 to Jose and Dorita Duran in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He grew up in East Carbon, Utah where his dad worked in the coal mines. He graduated from East Carbon High in 1957. Luis served in the US Navy on the USS Cavalier from 1958-62. Luis later came to Salt Lake City and met his love, Bridget Rodriguez. Together they had two sons, Mark (Lynette) and Anthony (Lisa).
Louie’s greatest joy was his grandchildren Meghan, Markus, Oliver, Mariah and Auri. He loved taking them on bike rides, to 7-11 to get slurpees and he was always up to carpool them wherever they wanted to go. He taught them how to fish, how to fix things, the value of hard work and that it was important to have a strong opinion. He was in the stands at all of their games- he was so proud of them. He taught them of his love for Jesus and for his family. Never leaving without giving them a kiss on the cheek.
Luis leaves behind his sons, grandchildren and their families, his step children and his sisters.
He joined Bridget, his parents, sisters; Bertha, Dora and Mary, step children; Andy and Eddie and his great granddaughters; Khara and Tuesday in heaven June 23, 2022.
