Lawrence passed away peacefully at his home in Grantsville on June 11th to reunite with his bride of 68 years, Ruth Swartzfager.
The oldest of 11 children, he was born on March 28th, 1931 in Pennsylvania.
He served in the Korean War with the United States Air Force. He met the love of his life, Ruth and they were married on May 1st 1954.
They had two sons, Steven and Patrick.
During his career as a Civil Servant with the Government, him and his family moved over a dozen times and spent five years in Germany. Him and his wife liked to travel and were lucky to experience many different parts of the world.
He shared a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and family. He particularly looked forward to his yearly deer hunts in Pennsylvania with his brothers, turkey hunts in West Virginia with his in-laws, and many different hunting and fishing trips in Alaska.
He was a gunsmith for hobby and spent 30 years building hunting rifles for the average sportsman.
He had an impressive garden and orchard and could grow almost anything successfully.
He was a man of many different talents and could fix anything with attention to detail on the end result.
He led an active and full life and loved his family well. He will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven (Sharmae) and Patrick (Marsha).
Six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Private family services have been held in care of Dalton-Hoopes Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
