Richard M Shaw

dhfh

On Monday, February 3, 2025, Richard Moore Shaw passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age of 77. Richard was the 4th of 7 children born to Harold and Maurine Shaw in Murray, Utah, on June 14, 1947. He served the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 2 years in the Northwestern States mission. He attended the University of Utah and later met his sweetheart, Caroline Cox, marrying her in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1974. Together, they raised 3 children in Grantsville, Utah. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and cherished serving as the bishop of his ward and a variety of other ward, stake, and regional area callings. He was a jack-of-all-trades, working in many industries throughout his life such as cab driving, car sales, mortgage lending, truck driving and more. He was especially well known for his leadership in the Boy Scouts of America (he was an Eagle Scout, himself) and had a passion for ham radios and emergency communication. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and prioritized supporting them in their many adventures, activities and accomplishments. He couldn’t wait to share a story or tell a joke with anyone he had the chance to talk to. He enjoyed singing, dancing and giving generously to those around him. He and Caroline recently celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary in June 2024. He will be deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. The family wishes to express our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Rocky Mountain Care for the services provided to Richard, as well as to the Grantsville 3rd Ward for hosting the funeral services.

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Harold John, his mother, Maurine, and his brothers, Harold John Jr and Larry. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his children, Tina Garrard (Kendall), Nathan Shaw, and Brian Shaw (Tracy); his siblings, Gerry Taylor (Mel), Kathleen Thacker (Reed), Susan Bryner (Cliff), Elizabeth Ruben (David); and his 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Viewing services will be held Monday, February 10 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the LDS Church located at 115 East Cherry St, Grantsville, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at the same location with an additional viewing beginning at 9:30 AM and services following at 11:00 AM with a graveside service thereafter. For those unable to attend in person, funeral services will be streamed online: https://zoom.us/j/95219750756
